Thank you so much for posting this, I learned a lot. I have been thinking about hydroponics and after watching this it is now a goal for later this year.It has been a cold, wet spring here in Canada too, we had snow a week ago! I had already started my outdoor garden because the week or two prior it had been in the mid to high teens in temperature. Things were growing nicely, sadly I had to replant my beans, and my tomatoes took some leaf damage. (I had even covered everything with fleece blankets )I agree with what you said about our world and environment, here in Canada another thing is happening which makes me sad. The government is allowing corporations to buy all our fertile farming land in Niagara region to build more homes and malls. We are losing so much farm land we will end up dependant on other countries for our food before too long.

There are doubts about the carbon footprint of hydroponics. After all, artificial lighting is used instead of the sun, and electricity is mainly created by burning fuel. Large urban vertical hydroponic farms consume huge amounts of electricity for lighting, heating and ventilation.
