You are right – some of the comments were idiotic, bordering on straight out abusive. You don’t have to take this garbage from people with a totally Disneyfied view of nature

You let nature do it’s work. The purpose of the camera is to OBSERVE, not to INTERFERE.

Like one of the comments said, in the uk it is illegal to interfere or touch any nest being used, when we are 100 percent sure the birds have fledged and nest is no longer in used, we are allowed to touch or dispose of the nest. So maybe in the live you can put such comment somewhere for others to understand that interfering is breaking the law. Since its livestream and on camera, you will likely get charged if you did interfere. Also disappointing to see you had such horrible comments especially such as animal abuse? That’s outrageous and I hope you don’t take it to heart, it’s wildlife and nature for a reason and sad as it is to leave it be but birds will abandoned their nest once it’s been interfered. Even when I watch spring watch they don’t interfere with the wild. Howwpefully the chick somehow managed to make its way back to the nest.

That 50% of livestream children think life is a Disney movie and don’t like the idea of nature taking it’s destined course without human intervention. Their opinions don’t matter and I wouldn’t pay them any heed

You made the right call – it’s far too risky and disruptive to dismantle the entire front of the nestbox, and I’m sure expert organisations like the RSPB would agree. It’s a very tough distinction to make between loving, support and protecting wildlife whilst also keeping it wild. Interference from humans with good intentions often has unpredictable, negative outcomes. Very sad situation but I’m sure any bird/wildlife watchers know that nature is often cruel in reality.Hope you are okay. if this nest was made in a forest and the chick did the same thing, it would happen regardless. Thats nature. Humans shouldnt interfere on such a trivial thing.

You do a marvellous job – ignore those nasty comments that have no basis for truth – as we all know.

Cant interfere with nature. If the camera wasn’t there, it will still happen without our knowledge. Nature has to take its course, however cruel it might seem.

Ahh so the curious chick that went out of the nesting place died. That’s why it is greyed out.

The blue tit has got to be my favourite British native bird. Then probably kestrel or heron.

Mum Bird only give food a one Bird🤯 The other Bird is very small 🙁

I feel sad that the mama bird didnt even look at the other “adventurous stuck bird” and just kinda left him there to die. Oh well, thats nature for you.

For the people asking, the greyed out part is a dead baby bird. If you look at the other parts before this, you can see there was a baby bird that was part of the nest whos leg got stuck and it died of the cold and hunger.

You can see the natural selection come into play where the stronger chick keeps getting fed while the second chick is getting weaker and weaker because they are getting fed. Mother feeds the chick who begs the most because to her that means it is the hungriest one.

The difference between the condition of today’s adventurous chick and that of its unfortunate sibling confirms that the decision not to intervene yesterday was the right one. The remaining chicks are looking strong and healthy. Fingers crossed there’ll be no more drama before they fledge.

It’s amazing we have any birds at all considering all the dangers they have to deal with. What brave little creatures to live like that!

I saw something that I never knew. The chick bent its head down to defecate and the adult plucked the stool as it was coming out and took it outside. I never knew birds did this.

It’s like they’re under constant siege in there!

Some tiny birds similar to tits nested in my rear garden tree, two years back to back, wonderful to watch and a privilege, but boy oh boy, magpies, crows, cats all getting or trying to get into the cover of this particular tree.When i see nesting i allow the dogs to chase off big birds and any other predators , they have learnt pigeon = good, crow / magpie / fox / cat = bad.I know i shouldn’t interfere with nature but all my neighbours are cutting down trees or having lots of branches removed during nesting season, so i like to give them somewhere as safe as i can make it.

this nest needs a predator guard, it’s a another wood piece mounted over the hole extending the depth more so a predator can’t get that far in…all my nest boxes have a predator guard and i don’t have a problem, they can’t in far enough due to this guard…

Did you know cat kills a lot birds. Many environmental groups say due to rise in cats, many birds are blink of extinction. If you have a cat, please don’t let it get out outside.

Before the last chick died, you can see that there is a really big difference in development between that one and the two that survived. Maybe that is why the parents didn’t care about it or helped it? Like they were being pragmatic and just kept their focus on the two “good ones”?

2 of 8 fledged, and that was with the benefit of a man made, predator proof box. Eesh. The odds are really against these birds.

These videos have gotten me hooked on bird videos recently, and the biggest thing I learned is that bird video comment sections are trash! If I had a dollar for every time someone mentioned Disney I’d never have to work again. And God forbid anyone make an incorrect assumption about a bird, because then random people who apparently study birds for a living will insult your intelligence. Love the videos tho! Keep it up in spite of the rude comments!

damn i only started watching halfway through and there was like, 4 or 5 when i picked it up, didnt realise they started with so many 🙁 do the parents still use the nest box after the babies are gone? if so do you empty it up for new birds or is that kinda like betrayal for them? lol im very uneducated in bird culture but this was all really interesting to see!! this mustve been a lot of work to manage and edit, thank you for sharing!!

From how mom used her claw to hold the eggshell she was eating to how dad pushed mom aside to feed the chick’s to how they both took their deceased chicks out….very real.

isnt it kinda cool to see how the young birds have very yellow beaks to serve as visual indicator to trigger the parents urge to feed the child. and when the bird gets older its beak loses that very noticeable yellow color around its beak. the yellow color is almost like a signal that tells the parents: “Feed Here” and once the bird gets old enough to feed themselves this yellow color is no longer needed. hmm
