You are right – some of the comments were idiotic, bordering on straight out abusive. You don’t have to take this garbage from people with a totally Disneyfied view of nature

You let nature do it’s work. The purpose of the camera is to OBSERVE, not to INTERFERE.

Like one of the comments said, in the uk it is illegal to interfere or touch any nest being used, when we are 100 percent sure the birds have fledged and nest is no longer in used, we are allowed to touch or dispose of the nest. So maybe in the live you can put such comment somewhere for others to understand that interfering is breaking the law. Since its livestream and on camera, you will likely get charged if you did interfere. Also disappointing to see you had such horrible comments especially such as animal abuse? That’s outrageous and I hope you don’t take it to heart, it’s wildlife and nature for a reason and sad as it is to leave it be but birds will abandoned their nest once it’s been interfered. Even when I watch spring watch they don’t interfere with the wild. Howwpefully the chick somehow managed to make its way back to the nest.

That 50% of livestream children think life is a Disney movie and don’t like the idea of nature taking it’s destined course without human intervention. Their opinions don’t matter and I wouldn’t pay them any heed

The chick is like “THEY’RE RECORDING US!!”

Don’t let mean comments discourage you and your good work. I just stumble on this page by accident and love it. Poor those birds – but that’s just nature.

You provided a safe place to raise the family, let nature take it’s course.

Who would have thought there is so much drama in a little bird box.

It’s hard to remember that we are privileged to see inside a nest box because of technology — it feels so close up you want to reach into the screen and rescue the wandering chick. We so appreciate the care you have lavished on these birds, and your wise and honest write-ups each day. I can imagine how hard these losses are for you. Thank you for what you are doing and your thoughtful decisions, wrenching as they sometimes must be.

even wildlife photographers are asked to not interfere.

I’m sad you lost one chick, but there’s a reason why so many eggs are laid at once.

This is equal to the trolley dilemma. Would you sacrifice one bird to save the other two? Or would you save one bird putting at risk all of them?

This is what happens birds will use any excuse to drop a baby just so the others can eat more, tbf the chick wasnt gonna make it next day he probs would of kumped out lmao

I get it but it still breaks my soft little heart. Rip buddy.

Wow I never knew a baby chick would actually go exploring. This is the first I’ve seen.

I just stumbled upon your page by accident, and this is the coolest thing ever. What you are doing is amazing–for the birds, most importantly, and for the rest of us as well. To be witness to the nesting and birth and fledging of these beautiful babies is a privilege for me, and I have you to thank for this privilege. I know that every time you lose a bird, it must hurt your hearts–if you were cruel and didn’t care about these beautiful creatures, you wouldn’t do this. Please don’t let a few ignorant souls discourage you. What you are doing is absolutely incredible, and I, for one, am grateful and humbled. Cheers and hugs from Colorado, USA!

You made the right call – it’s far too risky and disruptive to dismantle the entire front of the nestbox, and I’m sure expert organisations like the RSPB would agree. It’s a very tough distinction to make between loving, support and protecting wildlife whilst also keeping it wild. Interference from humans with good intentions often has unpredictable, negative outcomes. Very sad situation but I’m sure any bird/wildlife watchers know that nature is often cruel in reality.Hope you are okay. Thank you for taking the time to edit and share so much content with us and keep up the great work! <3

if this nest was made in a forest and the chick did the same thing, it would happen regardless. Thats nature. Humans shouldnt interfere on such a trivial thing.

You do a marvellous job – ignore those nasty comments that have no basis for truth – as we all know.

Cant interfere with nature. If the camera wasn’t there, it will still happen without our knowledge. Nature has to take its course, however cruel it might seem.

Ahh so the curious chick that went out of the nesting place died. That’s why it is greyed out.

The blue tit has got to be my favourite British native bird. Then probably kestrel or heron.

Mum Bird only give food a one Bird🤯 The other Bird is very small 🙁

i know what this grey figure on screen means and this is so sad… 🙁

I feel sad that the mama bird didnt even look at the other “adventurous stuck bird” and just kinda left him there to die. Oh well, thats nature for you.

I’m suddenly grateful to change baby diapers rather than contemplate this alternate method…

Nature seems don’t like adventurous beings

The parents work so hard to keep them feed

For the people asking, the greyed out part is a dead baby bird. If you look at the other parts before this, you can see there was a baby bird that was part of the nest whos leg got stuck and it died of the cold and hunger.

This makes me wanna have a bird house

You can see the natural selection come into play where the stronger chick keeps getting fed while the second chick is getting weaker and weaker because they are getting fed. Mother feeds the chick who begs the most because to her that means it is the hungriest one.

Aw man, I saw the compilation and then saw the vid before this one, now I know what the grey square is, poor adventurous chick

Lovely to see them out and about, its looking good.. 😃👍

I would love to set up a nesting box with a camera like this, but I know I can’t handle watching 40% of the chicks die every time…

Would be nice if there was alternating footage of outside the box and inside, but thats a lot of work editing 👍😊

For grey area- This is called nature

7:28 Interesting, I was wondering about how waste disposal is handled and doesn’t crud up the nest

Owww i looove this, just stumbled upon the channel and im sooo glad to be here!!! Thank you for the beauty and privilidge of giving us the avenue to watch wonderful nature so closely!!!! 🌞💓

OK now I know to buy a small bird house so the babies can’t wonder off.

The difference between the condition of today’s adventurous chick and that of its unfortunate sibling confirms that the decision not to intervene yesterday was the right one. The remaining chicks are looking strong and healthy. Fingers crossed there’ll be no more drama before they fledge.

Just shows you how vulnerable they actually are if they were in an open nest

Does anybody else watch these and start getting anxiety when mama bird tends to feed one chick more than the others? No? Just me? Ok.

I’m so invested in these birds

The feeding is like a weird version of Whack-A-Mole

It’s amazing we have any birds at all considering all the dangers they have to deal with. What brave little creatures to live like that!

Again an “attack” thwarted by hole diameter.

I saw something that I never knew. The chick bent its head down to defecate and the adult plucked the stool as it was coming out and took it outside. I never knew birds did this.

It’s like they’re under constant siege in there!

Mom made such a beautiful house for her babies she’s such a workaholic.,🐦

Some tiny birds similar to tits nested in my rear garden tree, two years back to back, wonderful to watch and a privilege, but boy oh boy, magpies, crows, cats all getting or trying to get into the cover of this particular tree. When i see nesting i allow the dogs to chase off big birds and any other predators , they have learnt pigeon = good, crow / magpie / fox / cat = bad.I know i shouldn’t interfere with nature but all my neighbours are cutting down trees or having lots of branches removed during nesting season, so i like to give them somewhere as safe as i can make it.

Both cute and terrifying

The parents take out the chicks’ mess after they feed them their bugs.

this nest needs a predator guard, it’s a another wood piece mounted over the hole extending the depth more so a predator can’t get that far in…all my nest boxes have a predator guard and i don’t have a problem, they can’t in far enough due to this guard…

Did you know cat kills a lot birds. Many environmental groups say due to rise in cats, many birds are blink of extinction. If you have a cat, please don’t let it get out outside.

Thank you for caring about them! Greetings from rainy Germany

I just love when they want to poop they just like “here mom take my poop”

It’s like a horror movie with cats, magpies, woodpeckers……….Oh my…that poor family…

Pretty normal that only 1 of these chicks makes it past year 1. Nature is brutal. Only the strongest survive.

Called it cute then realized what it was there to do 💔

That bird who got his first look at the world then dived right back under the nest…I feel you man 🤣

Thank you for this. We aren’t here for Disney, but real life with all it’s wonders and difficulties. Just love this nest box camera

Before the last chick died, you can see that there is a really big difference in development between that one and the two that survived. Maybe that is why the parents didn’t care about it or helped it? Like they were being pragmatic and just kept their focus on the two “good ones”?

2 of 8 fledged, and that was with the benefit of a man made, predator proof box. Eesh. The odds are really against these birds.

These videos have gotten me hooked on bird videos recently, and the biggest thing I learned is that bird video comment sections are trash! If I had a dollar for every time someone mentioned Disney I’d never have to work again. And God forbid anyone make an incorrect assumption about a bird, because then random people who apparently study birds for a living will insult your intelligence. Love the videos tho! Keep it up in spite of the rude comments!

Daddy bird lookin STRESSED. No time for the hair salon when you’re out hunting 24/7! Do the parents both come in and sleep at night? This mutve taken Daaaaaayss to edit. Thank you!

You know they never really talk about both parents helping with the chick’s it always just what you hear about the mama but you see them them both doing equal parentingits pretty cool

So mom and dad never come back after they learn to fly ? 🙁

@09:11 one of the parent bird kicked the other one out so that he/she could feed the chicks, pretty hilarious

damn i only started watching halfway through and there was like, 4 or 5 when i picked it up, didnt realise they started with so many 🙁 do the parents still use the nest box after the babies are gone? if so do you empty it up for new birds or is that kinda like betrayal for them? lol im very uneducated in bird culture but this was all really interesting to see!! this mustve been a lot of work to manage and edit, thank you for sharing!!

From how mom used her claw to hold the eggshell she was eating to how dad pushed mom aside to feed the chick’s to how they both took their deceased chicks out….very real.

the large bird trying to get the chicks and the bird mom all scared had me shiiivverring

Daddy bird trying to feed a while ass caterpillar 😂😂 mama had to scold him

The whole process, good or sad from beginning to end when the last little one fledged was totally amazing! I enjoyed it immensely thank you!

“Why is the hole so small lol”1 minute later: *sees giant beaks* oh…

Imagine being the tiny birds and seeing that gigantic beak 😨

Man, bigger birds try to eat then so often that I’m surprised these things could even survive before people put up these boxes for them to nest in.

The Predators in your Garden are very persistent

9:35 the one poking up just to slap the hell out of the other one was glorious and I love them

isnt it kinda cool to see how the young birds have very yellow beaks to serve as visual indicator to trigger the parents urge to feed the child. and when the bird gets older its beak loses that very noticeable yellow color around its beak. the yellow color is almost like a signal that tells the parents: “Feed Here” and once the bird gets old enough to feed themselves this yellow color is no longer needed. hmm

1:18BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Good protection. Their adorable

The way he flutters His Wings 🐦

We have a lot of magpies visit our garden. I made sure to get boxes that have those metal plates around the holes just to make sure they are super safe.

12:11 “wait are you getting up to feed me?”

I remark at the end of this video parent disregarded feeding the chick jumping out of nest. Strong rules of birds

YouTube helps us slow down and watch the bird grow up…lolThings we see daily… like picking oranges on my orange tree and coming across a abandoned nest! Thanks for this daily video:)

Is there camera outside of the nest box so we can see them post-fledge?

At 00:10 we see why some birds need smaller holes.

The claps when they left the nest each time is so proud and sweet ❤️

1:18Bird: time to bring in the jackhammer!

That’s so wonderful to see all bird lovers you and me creating videos of nature and help protect our nature

Love the wing flapping. “BRRRRRRRR!! I’m a helicopter! BRRRRRRRR!!”

The bird:Hey friend! Why dont you have any feathers?:Friend: YOU TOOK THEM:Bird: my eggs needs to be warmFriend: THEY WILL BE WARM UNDER YOUR BUTT
