This race had it all, heartbreak for most of the top field, non stop action to watch, incredible defensive driving and overtakes from multiple drivers, new first time winner who had to work for it, outside of a title decider I can’t think of anything else I would have wanted from an F1 race.

This has got to be the best race of the season. Ocon winning with Seb in second, fantastic defence from Alonso, Lewis climbing up the field, what a race.

Ohhh those memories… those crashes… I remember that Buemi knew that day that Red Bull gives you wings (same with Webber in Valencia), or even Emmerson took to another level the “flying lap” concept

I love how Buemi still makes all the right steering movement to first take the corner and then correct his spin, those reflexes run deep even if he had no wheels.

to this day i still remember the fittipaldi/morbidelli stunt at Imola, it was beautiful. IIRC morbidelli missed a gear and fittipaldi had nowhere to go. these guys were among the last to have h pattern gearboxes i think.

Buemi’s incident is easily one of the weirdest i’ve seen. It’s as if his tyres suddenly decided they didn’t want to be attached anymore!

Love how Buemi continues to try and counter steer even though his front wheels are in another postcode by that point!

The Mansell one is almost iconic.That’s downhill at more than full tilt into a hairpin and his tyre went. The way he held that car as the back was desperately trying to overtake the front was masterful.

It’s crazy how many times Lewis has barely missed out on the title for one reason or another. The fact he has 7 and in a perfect world could possibly be at 9 or 10 is crazy. Just barely lost out on #8 today.

Conclusions: Hamilton has had a fair share of tire dramas over the years.

They could make tyres to last and require minimum racing time on each set, counting factors regarding grid position, top speed, points, whatever. Making disposable tyres doesn’t seems to be the right way to push tech further.
