1980 Mighty Tonka Dump Truck Restoration

(c) Rescue & Restore Replacement Cab Windshield: …

I remember getting this exact same truck for Christmas when I was a little kid. Brings great memories.

Imagine if after its restoration, some little kid from the 80’s knocks on the door and asks if his toy is ready. Like this workshop exists somewhere outside of time itself.

I was born in 1976. So growing up during the time I can say that this exact truck was literally in every sandbox I ever played in. It practically lived in kids sandboxes or just a permanent residence somewhere in the back yard. Which of course is how it ended up looking the way it did in the beginning. That brings back memories.

Every kid in my era had or knew someone who had this Tonka truck.

Everyone else: This toy is so old. I think I don’t need it anymore.R&R: Hold my sandblaster !

This is my kind of ASMR. No music, no voice over, just right. 🙂

I discovered this channel yesterday. It’s 3 days til Christmas and I have tons of cookies to bake – You Sir are a problem. I want to watch every moment of this awesomeness. Gotta go I smell something burning but I’ll be back -Subscribed ! Merry Christmas 2019 !

… Am I the only one who sat in the back of this thing and scooted across the floor as a child?

This is such a fantastic restoration job, I might have had tears in my eyes while watching! It’s simply so beautiful how you give life to this old an precious toy!!! Thanks so much!

You can burnish the tyre rolling surfaces with a butane flame.Loving your work!

They’re made out of plastic now…if you can even find them. I drove a million miles on my knees pushing around Tonka trucks!

0:05 Over 40+ years later I immediately recalled those “rubber” stacks.

Watching the powder paint set is so satisfying. I dont know why people hate on “watching paint dry” lol it actually is awesome

I had one of these as a kid, I miss that sucker. I could ride in it till I was about 10.

Oh my god I remember owning this as a kid, never saw one this brand new. Thanks for the flashbacks and happy memories!

When you added the “white walls” on the tires I think I actually applauded.

I had this exact model when I was a boy back in the early 90’s, god it takes me back to see it again.

Hey, that might have been my Tonka truck from the 80’s.

I had one just like that! It was passed down from my uncle I used to sit in the back of it and scoot along 😂

Damn, I had that truck when i was like 4 and they are all rusty now lolWait, that is my truck

Todo un profesional, tus trabajos quedan exelentes!! mejor que como nuevos. he visto cada uno de tus videos y en verdad te felicito la restauracion es de 5 ☆☆☆☆☆.Saludos…

Rust: “You just don’t wanna give up do you?”Sandblaster: “I can do this all day.”

At first I was disappointed you were painting it a dull grey color, but then it came out of that oven/kiln that beautiful blue 😄👍

That made some little child in heaven very happy! Edit: Unless they are not dead, that too.

I’m impressed with that plastic windshield. It came out really nice.

as a kid those bend tabs were too tempting! I disassembled EvErYtHiNg!!! Now I like restoration. Haha at least I know how to get them apart. much enjoyment in watching the toys get restored.

I would like to see something at the end that indicates the total number of hours spent restoring each item.

Omg. I’m leaving ASMR makeups and haircuts and drawings. I’m relocating here. Awesomeness. 💙

Just found your channel yesterday, and I love how relaxing your work is. No loud music, no voice over. Just the natural sounds to whatever you do next to the parts.

Damnit, now it’s actually nicer than my car.

One thing I like about your videos is that you legitimately make the objects you’re restoring look the way they’re supposed toNo added flair, no incredibly colorful or unlikely paint colors. It’s all perfect

I miss your videos 😔

Beautiful! I really liked that you didn’t show the finished product in the thumbnail. It’s fun to be surprised at the end. I’m looking forward to more videos.

The shine on the windshield is incredible! Makes me want to tinker in my garage…if only I had your tools in there! lol

The sand blasting part was oddly satisfying 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼

This is giving me second thoughts about getting rid of those rusty Tonka dump truck and mixer in my backyard.

love that truck, my grandfather (R.I.P.) had one of those.

This level of restoring is truly an art form.

Do you sell them after you restore them? If so where? Love your channel

That chrome paint looks like real chrome, i’m amazed 🙂 very good job, i’m impressed. Can’t wait to see your next one

I’m always impressed when the tabs don’t break.

It’s an understatement to say you restore these pieces. It’s so clear you have a deep affection for these items you lovingly bring back to life. Really great to watch (and learn)

Toys had so much character back then. It is so satisfying to see them given a new lease on “life”.

Just think. This was once some mans/woman’s, steel work, whether or not they’re still alive, they’d be proud to see it restored to its former glory.

Am I the only one watching these amazing videos who now wants to sand blast things?🤷🏼‍♀️

I have an original rusted steel tiger tank toy from 1943 I would love to send you for restoration. Let me know if you would like me to send it to you.

I feel like you are the Bob Ross of restoration. I want to be more like you when the time comes to grow up

Everyone here on about Sandblasting, I just love that painting.

“Ladies and Gentlemen and Non Binary people, this is your caption speaking, welcome to Air Rescue and Restore.”

That ‘click!’ Sound every time you put the peices back together is soooooooo satisfying

Love these videoes without annoying music….:) Your work is amazing!

the most satisfying part for me is when you disassemble everything and then put it all together in the end

Where’s Alice? I fell down this rabbit hole and had to subscribe…I’m hooked…great work!

Love it when things of the past get a breath of life again. You did good friend! Thank you for sharing with us.

This video:10% restoration90% ASMR

How therapeutic is that sandblasting! Great job..

Why are the insides of Sand Blasting cabinets painted?!?!!?

Sometimes my recommended list includes a gem. Your channel is one of those gems. I have watched 5 of your videos now and I’m hooked, subscribed and notified.

I really wonder what the original owners of these toys would think if they saw your restorations.
