Interesting that there’s a cutoff somewhere in the middle where all the pendulums above are going crazy while all the ones below are relatively tame. If a pendulum didn’t do a full circle on the first swing then it spends the rest of the time just swinging normally, while the ones that did do a full circle on the first swing spin around unpredictably.

(c) えむしーじじょう リクエストにお応えして2重1024足振り子のロングverをつくりました。 初期条件、積分条件は以下と同じなので30secまでは同じ軌道を動くはず…。

English translation: Per your requests, I have made a longer animation of a 1024-segment pendulum. Because the constants are identical to the ones used in the other video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSesVJFgl9Q&t=0s), the segments’ trajectories are the same for the entire 30 seconds. Because I wanted to watch the instantaneous movement of the pendulum, I decreased the tracing of each segment in the video. It takes about 2 minutes to compute a time step, and an entire day on my PC to compute 1 minute of simulation-time. Because energy is stored, arithmetic errors performed for every calculated step do not accumulate.
