Stuff like this should be taught in school. Much of what kids are taught needs to be re thought for the times we live in.

*Brain at night:* _uses 20% of my energy_*Brain during an exam:* three take it or leave it
Salmon, spinach, brown rice, brocolli and peanuts, oatmeal for breakfast has literally uncluttered my mind. No longer feeling sluggish or having energy drops. I swear this keeps you productive!
Brain be like: “I’m working on myself for myself by myself.”
brain is the most powerful organ in your body – said brain
I used to think that I had Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.), a problem that makes you feel depressed when the weather’s no good, but then I cut sugar out of my diet (aside from whole fruits) and I realized I do not have S.A.D. Essentially, sugar was negatively affecting my mood… now, I’m pretty much happy all the time, even on gloomy days!

TED-Ed : “You are What You Eat?”I Don’t Remember Eating a Huge Disappointment
If you live in america, your brain doesn’t stand a chance.
When I was a teenager and in my early 20’s I used to eat fast food, processed foods (chips, candy, ramen noodles), and sugary drinks. I used to feel awful mentally, physically, and emotionally. After I got pregnant I decided I wanted to change my diet to more healthier foods to help the developing baby. I found that eating right and exercising I felt better and really helped my body adjust to my new life as a mother, plus the baby was so healthy. We still continue to eat healthy to this day
About 2.5 years ago I saw this video for the first time, it really made me think about what I ate and since I’ve eaten with much more awareness, mostly plant based whole foods packed with nutrients, thanks!
Cutting out processed foods and processed sugar, enabled me to remove six prescription drugs I was supposed to be on for life. I was taking 120 pain pills a month, depression meds., steroid creams for skin rashes and three additional drugs. (I also lost 40 pounds and have kept it off for eight years) Most of us treat our bodies like a city waste facility until our health is taken from us. This is exactly what happened to me. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome. And given no hope from the medical Doctors. Now is the time to take care of yourself, before you end up in dire straits as I did.

Awww how refreshing. A nutritional video on YouTube where I agree with everything said. Thanks teded. Awesome as always
Very interesting! I’ve found that, since my concussion last year, if I eat sugar, dairy or something junky, I’m basically useless the rest of the day. Most people don’t think about how the food they eat directly affects their body
I really love the animation. It helps me to imagine what is going on inside our brain, like how the foods affect our brain.
Since I suffered a life changing brain injury four years ago, I have become noticeably more sensitive to how my brain reacts to different foods. I also have to eat a little every couple of hours due to my brain using up glucose at an increased rate because of my injury. A very interesting subject, but I could have done without learning about it through becoming disabled.
What makes something “Kafkaesque”? – Noah Tavlin
(c) TED-Ed View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/what-makes-something-kafkaesque-noah-tavlin The term Kafkaesque has entered the vernacular to describe …
The Trial is real. When I read it, I kept thinking how messed up it is that police and district attorneys don’t care about about finding the person who committed the crime, all they care about is finding a person that they can most easily convict of the crime. It’s scary because it’s true and can happen to anyone at any time.
This is the best time in history to appreciate the true meaning of “Kafkaesque”
The last line couldn’t be farther from Kafka’s message:”He reminds us that the world we live in is one we create, and we have the power to change for the better.”More like:He reminds us that the world we live in is absurd, and we have no power to change it no matter how hard we try.
We should really change the phrase to “Please no meat touching ma’am.”
If I submitted this to my AP English teacher, she would still give it a B-
“The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy.” -Oscar Wilde
“Take for example Kafka’s most greatest story”Me: Alright*Metamorphosis*Me: *PTSD*
I remember as a kid reading The Metamorphosis in school and being hopelessly confused about what the book was or why it was important. Aside from being a subpar English student, I simply don’t think I had enough life experience to appreciate the abstract concepts my teacher (and the author) was trying to convey.
The creativity that went into the animation is at another level.
I read somewhere how the Trial spoke to Joseph’s denial of his own mortality and imperfect nature, thus his crime is the denial of being human. The ego doesn’t usually want to acknowledge its own wrongdoings or mistakes, holding itself above as something better than everyone else and refusing to admit fault. Put that on trial with endless bureaucratic pressure to admit guilt without proof and you’ve got an ego stuck like ouroboros in a judicial system that perpetuates itself as well. Fun idea to chew on, don’t know if it’s even close to what Kafka intended either. But like this video mentioned, this take still brings together the cogs of today’s bureaucracy with the individual who is caught up in it. Tell me if you know where this take came from it’s driving me nuts.
Interesting fact: Kafka always thought of his work to be unworthy and nevery published it himself. Today, he’s one of the world’s most famous authors.
“Kafkas most famous story, metamorphosis”My hearts skipped a beat there
Youtube is the perfect example, the video recommendation algorithms is a mystery that few can unravel, who knows how much good content got buried because the program deemed them not to be.
Really, thank you all at TED for explaining this. I have heard the phrase but never really set aside time to dive into what it really means…usually it’s brought up during a long winded conversation, and opinions and words during those conversations often make it lose meaning. Again, thank you.
“The world is one we create and have the power to change for the better.”Yet you just mentioned that even the most powerful people can’t control the system that’s built itself to perpetuate itself.
“And we find our every word judged by people we can’t see, by rules we don’t know.” Damn
It’s a system put in place by the ones who made it so that the lower bottom people can never make it to their positions and force them to compete. This is essentially pulling up the ladder once you get to a higher goal.
“The only thing that will save us from the bureaucracy is its inefficiency.” -Eugene J McCarthy
Vogue worth of the modern education system destroyed under 5 minutes. A great lesson indeed. Much thanks from an anxious student.
I think the small related theme of bugs ties to how insects like ants behave, they work endlessly in their own complicated system, like one small cog in an organised workforce dedicated to one thing
A glimpse of teenage life in ancient Rome – Ray Laurence
(c) TED-Ed Sign up for our newsletter and never miss an animation: http://bit.ly/TEDEdNewsletter Welcome to the world of Lucius Popidius Secundus, a 17-year old living in …
Only 80’s BC kids remember this
Lucius: *knows Greek and Latin at 17*Me at 17: mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
I remember living back in Rome at that time… This is actually quite accurate, however the people weren’t really 2D.
“his dad has his eye on a family with a 7 year old daughter” *FBI* OPEN UP!
nailed it!
If smartphones exists in ancient Rome, teenagers would be taking selfies while a man was being eaten by the lions in the Colosseum.
“A glimpse of teenage life in ancient Rome (non-slave version)”
17 year old Roman: *does everything*17 year old me: *watching comments on youtube*
I wonder how people 2,000 years in the future will talk about our teenage lives
“Lucius has family business to do today”Yes, he must make sure that draco has the best broomstick this quidditch season.Sorry i had to 😂
Draco’s dad had a pretty interesting childhoodOh my bob I haven’t checked this comment in a while. Thanks for the likes!
A teenager at Roman times was in their Middle Ages lmao
She’s seven “yeh, I’ll just come back in 10 years”
When I heard “7 years old” I couldn’t help but think of my 10 year old sister, and now I’m even more glad that we don’t live in Ancient Rome 🙂
0:40Ok two questions1. Is this where the word “suburban” comes from?2. Is this literally the ancient Roman version of the hood
Even Lucius when he saw that 7 year old was like… “ight imma head out!” 👌
That moment when your Grandpa is living more luxurious life at 90 than Teens in Rome lol
Wonderful, educational animation on Ancient Rome!! Thank you so much for this!
I remember learning about this when I was younger. It was intriguing and yet exciting to learn about it.
Shout out to the graphic designers! I wish I could have a music video with this kind of animation 💚

I feel like the entire global school system ignores the fact that teenagers need 10 hours of sleep. I’m lucky if I get 8
Me after getting only 4 hours of sleep and currently drinking a Red Bull: “…interesting”
“less than 6hrs sleep increases stroke risk”me: * sleeps for 6.01hrs * 😎
The fact 66% of students are regularly sleep deprived should indicate a problem that desperately needs fixing, but as a society we do nothing to help our students and instead punish them for sleeping in.
I feel like everyone here decided to watch this video instead of sleeping 😂
School: “Children need 9-10 hours of sleep daily”Also school: *_”WE RIDE AT DAWN BICHES”_*
When I feel happy, I sleep. When I feel unhappy, I sleep.Sleep is my favorite thing.
It’s funny because this is exactly the type of vid that you watch late at night while you are supposed to be doing homework and procrastinating lol
“A 17 year old highschool student stayed awake for 264 hours”You gotta bump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers
Schools: hey you need 8hrs of sleep! We have agreed to give it you. Enjoy 8hr sleep monthly
“Teens need at least 8-10 hours of sleep each day”School: 8-10 = -2 😍
I’ve always had sleeping problems since I was younger. No wonder why I have so many physical and mental issues. Thanks for recommending me this FBI dude! Appreciate the love you have for me <3
Students aged 13-15 in Korea sleep almost 6 hours, and students aged 16-18 sleep 4-5 hours. When they turn 15, there are many students who do not sleep in school classes with the help of coffee. The reason is that there is a lot of study and the time to leave school is too late.ㅠㅠ
I was going to perform the same experiment given in the beginning….I was just frustrated bcoz when I felt sleepy I couldn’t bcoz of the immense study pressure. When I finally complete my work then I had to lie down on the bed forcefully and cannot sleep but just waste time.Been doing this from the past 3-4 days now….After seeing the video, I was scared to death.Thank you Teded for putting up the video.Time to sleep for me now…!!!!
All us teens are gonna be at a high risk for stroke then, how fun
It is physically impossible to get 10 hours of sleep if you don’t want to fail your exams and become the only failure in your family. Every one can relate.
I remember being 14-15 and having sleeping contests with my friends and seeing who was able to stay awake without sleeping lmao, I lasted 2 1/2 days 🙇🏻♀️
Not sleep related but I really like the palette, drawing style and how fluent the animations are *-*And yeah, I sleep 4 hours or less and yeah, I drink more than 1 lt of coffee everyday…
One time I made it to day 5. On day five, I got the highest grade on the statistics exam in my entire class. On a curve I got 120%. I was rank 1. Why didn’t I sleep? Because if all I did was the studying for that and then slept – that’d just be the last option because no one picks that option unless you’re just amish or someone’s mom.Do I encourage that? No, not at all. My income was not affected by that at all. That was a general ed class. It just means you’ll probably lose at card games with me that’s all that means.
I’ve always enjoyed the comfort and feeling of sleep. This has only made me appreciate it more.
Can you solve the three gods riddle? – Alex Gendler
(c) TED-Ed View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/can-you-solve-the-three-gods-riddle-alex-gendler You and your team have crash-landed on an ancient planet.
I can’t imagine being able to decipher an entire alien language to the point I can ask any question but not able to translate “yes” and “no”.
imagine if you solved all of that and you ask tee “is it a long way to earth?” and tee just replies “yes.”
Tee=T=TruthEff=F=FalseArr=R=Random
“Can you solve the three gods riddle?”*man i don’t even understand the solution*
My (very incorrect) answer:“Tee, is this artifact yours?”“Tee, is this artifact Eff’s?”“Tee, is this artifact Arr’s?”Hope ozo is yes.
For anyone who’s good at math, this is what math sounds like to people who are bad at it
For the fourth and final question when you leave, ask Tee:“Is 2+2=4”If oso means yes, Tee would say oso. If oso means no, Tee would say ulu.You would finally be able to find out what the words mean. It wouldn’t really accomplish anything other than you being fully fluent in the alien language though.
Usually, this riddle is explained by simplifying it first: you only have two aliens, Tee and Eff, and you know what “yes” or “no” means. From there you get to, “what would your partner say if I asked …” And then you can make it more complicated step by step.
I love at the end when the narrator says “Too bad you still don’t know what that means”, and the girl looks so… crazy
“You have deciphered enough of their language to ask them any three questions.*Except, you don’t know the two simplest words to learn in every single language, yes and no.”*
“So.. can you solve the riddle?””Well ozo, but actually ulu”
“this riddle has been called the hardest logic puzzle ever”My brain cells: I’m gonna head out
Me:”Tee, if Ozo is yes then reply with Ozo.””Tee, do I have green eyes?”(confirms I have green eyes)”Can I leave?”
I pick up an artifact at random and pretend to drop it. I watch as one of the overlord’s eyes widen. It’s his artifact. I pick up another artifact and say “It’s chipped. See?” The first overlord to come forward does so in a worried rush. It’s his artifact. The last one I toss to the last overlord and say goodbye.
“Can you solve the riddle-“Simply understanding the solution is an achievement, let alone trying to make your own solution
Me: knows entire alien language Also me: doesn’t know the difference between yes and no
Her: If I asked you if it’s a long way to Earth, would you answer “OZO”?Tee: OZO*Runs out of gas*Her: So Ozo is yes… Interesting…*dies*
Long-winded breakdown of why you don’t need to know the exact meaning of “OZO” and “ULU”, and why Arr doesn’t prevent a solution (the first part is pretty much a reiteration of the video, but at the end I try to explain my understanding of it): Tee (T) tells the truth Eff (F) tells a lieArr (R) answers randomly Question: “If I asked you whether 2+2=4 (known true), would you say ‘OZO’ (unknown meaning)?” IF “OZO” = “Yes” AND “ULU” = “No” Answers:T: “OZO”F: “OZO” (He would say “ULU” to the embedded question, so he denies this and says “OZO”.) IF “ULU” = “Yes” AND “OZO” = “No” Answers:T: “OZO”F: “OZO” (Yes, he would say “OZO” to the embedded question, so he denies this and says “OZO”.) Like this:- Q to F: “Does 2+2=4?:- F: “OZO”- Q to F: “If I asked you whether 2+2=4, would you say ‘OZO’?”- F: “OZO” (Must lie about his previous answer and deny that he WOULD say “OZO”, but because “OZO” means “No” in this example, he uses the word “OZO” in order to deny it.) Question: “If I asked you whether 2+2=5 (known false), would you say ‘OZO’ (unknown meaning)?” (Assuming the year is not 1984) IF “OZO” = “Yes” AND “ULU” = “No” Answers:T: “ULU”F: “ULU” IF “ULU” = “Yes” AND “OZO” = “No” Answers:T: “ULU”F: “ULU” Question: “If I asked you whether the overlord on my left is Arr (unknown), would you answer ‘OZO’ (unknown meaning)?” IF “OZO” = “Yes” AND “ULU” = “No”, AND Arr IS to the left Answers:T: “OZO”F: “OZO” IF “ULU” = “Yes” AND “OZO” = “No”, AND Arr IS to the left Answers:T: “OZO”F: “OZO” IF “OZO” = “Yes” AND “ULU” = “No”, AND Arr IS NOT to the left Answers:T: “ULU”F: “ULU” IF “ULU” = “Yes” AND “OZO” = “No”, AND Arr IS NOT to the left Answers:T: “ULU”F: “ULU” ~So you aren’t finding out the meaning of the words, but you ARE determining the validity of your embedded question. You know that an answer of “OZO” from Tee or Eff means that the embedded question is true, and an answer of “ULU” from them means that the embedded question is false. On to the matter of determining order. Posed to the middle alien, the first question is this: “If I asked you whether the overlord on my left is Arr (unknown), would you answer ‘OZO’ (unknown meaning)?” This question isn’t about confirming who IS Arr, it’s about confirming who IS NOT Arr. If Arr is on either side, the first alien you’re talking to must be Tee/Eff and you’d then know for sure where Arr is based on their answer. If Arr is in the middle, then the answer he gives would still point you in the correct direction because he ISN’T on either side. If Arr says “OZO” randomly, you would now be choosing between left and middle alien. If Arr says “ULU” randomly, you would be choosing between right and middle alien. Either way, you’ve determined the two spots where Arr COULD be and, more importantly, the one where he definitely COULDN’T be. Originally, I was confused because it seemed like this solution required starting with Tee/Eff for sure, and already knowing which side Arr is on so you can formulate your question accordingly and know that you wouldn’t be getting a random answer. However, getting a random answer isn’t as much of a wrench in the works as I first thought, because that in itself can be used to make an elimination as Arr can’t be in two places at once. I’m not claiming to be an expert logician or anything and I admit that I could definitely be wrong, but that’s my understanding of this riddle. In my opinion, the hardest part to understand is the fact that Arr answering randomly doesn’t prevent you from being able to find the correct answer, so I decided to post how I worked through it in case it might be a help to anyone else. 🙂
Step 1: Confirm you have green eyes (which the character in this actually does)Step 2: Ask the alien overlords to leave
Me: So. How much complexity do you wanna put in a single 4-minutes video?TED-Ed: Ozo.
