I’m definitely not a narcissist, I’m probably the most humble person ever despite the fact that I’m one of the smartest, best looking, most competent, and overall best people I know

Narcissus died because he heard about my birth. He was afraid of competition

It’s actually low self esteem covered with bravado. Every moment is spent trying to convince themselves and others that they are better. Lived with one for 13 years. The psychological abuse they put you through is stunning.

I’m not a narcissist, it’s just that everybody else sucks and I’m awesome and should be venerated as a living god.

I classify myself as a “narcissist” although im not so proud of my condition. The part where he said “narcissists feel good but the people around them suffer” is absolutely true, i destroyed the best person i ever had in my life and i didnt even know why and how i did it. Seek for help? Impossible i feel too much guilt. Not all narcissists feel good about themselves believe me.

My therapist said that my narcissism causes me to misread social situations. I’m pretty sure she was hitting on me.

As some side notes, you can be selfish without being a narcissist.You can be vain and like taking care of your physical appearance without being a narcissist.You can like compliments and positive attention without being a narcissist.You can also lack self-awareness without being a narcissist.And you can be a narcissist without being a sociopath or a psychopath.Narcissists can feel depressed.Narcissists generally lack in empathy but it can come sometimes, rarely. Don’t go expecting it, though, otherwise you’re just asking to be hurt.The main focus is that a narcissist does these things while also lacking in empathy, and that they are more likely to do things to hurt others because of it, and that they generally lack the self-awareness to realize that what they’re doing is bad or that they just shouldn’t be doing it, and reasoning with them generally doesn’t work. If a person does any of these things, together or separately, and they still have empathy, than it’s less likely that they’re a narcissist.

I feel like I used to be a narcissist, but now I am just an insecure, anxious, introverted mess…Though, I always kept my narcissism to myself

Wow, fantastic video! I have watched PsychtoGo’s various videos on the subject and honestly I think this one is better than all of them. This video goes (slightly) more into the myth of Narcissus, environmental/cultural contributors, and makes the important distinction between narcissistic personality disorder and the 2 kinds of recognized narcissistic personality traits (which PsychtoGo didn’t go into AT ALL).

My husband (hopefully soon to be ex) had this drilled into him from his parents from birth because he was the only boy and I found that I have been a victim of narcissistic abuse for years. It wasn’t just physical, verbal, emotional, mental, but also gaslighting, being manipulative, vindictive, you name it. The camera he I stalled in the living room became unplugged by accident when I unplugged a lamp, and in response I was choked, and of course, it was “my fault” because he wasn’t feeling well, and it was an inconvenience. He slept it off. But when I had bronchitis the entire week before, I was being selfish for not giving him attention. Yep.

There’s nothing wrong with being positive about your image. Just don’t tear others down.

i used to have NPD and it was the time when my best friend talked about how i act hurts him i said to myself i treated people badly and they left now i need to change that thing about me because i don’t want to lost him. it was a rough journey and i am still on it but i become so much better,i am still a sarcasm queen tho but in the end i am proud of myself for choosing to get help and seeing my disease because it’s a disease and a narcissist never accept that

I do those things inwardly. I’m aware of them and I stop them from manifesting, but they are still there.For example 90% of the people I talk with, in my head I’m thinking “you’re not smarter than this person, just listen and talk as he or she is doing to you. Not everything is a competition for status. Why do you even need to know if you’re better? Just treat them like a person”. But I feel like I’m just using those thoughts to hide my actual thoughts, which are the complete opposite. I just feel like I’m 2 people, one is a narcissist and the other is aware the other is a narcissist. But the narcissist is the one who’s got his hands on the wheel, while the other one is telling the taxi where to go.Am I a narcissist?

I’m way too great to be a narcissist.

This video mainly focuses on the Egocentric types, (which some narcissists are)…But it really doesn’t explain all the traits and abuse techniques that narcisssistic people resort to in order to achieve their agendas and destroy their targets lives…The lies, manipulations, deceit, Projection, Deflection, Gaslighting…The spreading of false rumors, smear-campaigning…The emotional abuse they inflict on their loved ones…And how they pit other family members and people against their scapegoat, thru lies, deceit,manipulation, and other tactics listed above….There is so much more to narcissistic abuse than stated in this video…I think this video is just a quick introduction to egocentric self absorbed types of people. But a real abusive narcissist is really really bad…

Actually, a correction. Hinduism didn’t actually start with lord Krishna, he was one of the incarnation of lord Vishnu, who is the the maintainer of the universe..these lessons of life were taught by every deity a hindu worships, lord krishna just compiled it for Arjuna during mahabharat. Infact it was after mahabharat that the kalyug or the modern age started.

I really respect all religions but I would like to correct one thing about Hinduism that it dates way back before Lord Krishna. Krishna was the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and there has been other significant incarnations before him and even before that people used to believe in Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma. People used to worship Vishnu and Shiva and other gods much way before Lord Krishna. We believe Hinduism is a very old and respected religion 😊

Very nice video! As a muslim, i was wondering about how the other world religions are like (aspecially bhudism and hinduism). You seem to capture the (seemingly) peaceful aspects of each religion without prejudices. Hopefully everyone who watches this becomes more open minded torwards other religions and cultures and meet other people with respect. Thanks a lot !

Let me say this as a Hindu: Describing Hinduism by its deities is like describing a person by his/her fingers. Although it is a vital functional part, it is far from being anything more than a tool. That said, thank you for the very educational video.

The narrator is so professional. I am amazed by how he pronounced salat & zakat (in Islam religion) . This is the right way to pronounced these words in Arabic.

Buddhism is a teaching of life More like education not a religion

We live and let live.. we don’t invade or fight wars in the name of religion.. our belief system can encapsulate all other beliefs .. we love and respect all other faiths.. we are Hindus (Sanatan Dharma followers). Peace ☮️🇮🇳

I have studied and researched in depth over the past 2 decades about 4 of the above religions( except Judaism which I am still currently studying and researching ) and I can say that he got at least half of the Hinduism and Buddhism aspects wrong. 😥 They are far more profound then mentioned here. Too many misrepresentations there. For example, Krishna is made out to be a messiah or prophet like Mohammed or Christ in this video which is untrue. He is not the founding prophet (as he is made out to be here) since there were many significant contributors before him ….and the religion of Hinduism is way older than Krishna! Also, it’s not an amalgamation of various religions but a way of life/one religion which accommodates multiple belief systems to suit its practitioners…. which is what makes it unique from the rigid “only one belief system” of our Abrahamic religions. There are many other misstatements in this video. Buddhism too is not justly portrayed here! Too many points of contention for me to go into details here . I recommend viewers to do some research into the eastern religions before accepting this video as “truthful and factual” since there are many better and fascinating actual studies and theses online. I somehow feel like this video was made by a person with a very “western” view on non-western religions rather than a person who has an open and unbiased mind. 😔 Kudos that he got at least half of those things right!😅One thing I can say is true of all the 5 religions is that they all originally preach love, tolerance and peace. 😍 Shame how some corrupt, greedy and power-hungry leaders can brainwash some fanatics into doing harm in the name of religion! Wish we all could rise above that! 🌹

honestly, this was a pretty calming video. nice to learn about other religions, i never really understood what judaism, hinduism, and buddhism are like, and this kinda helped. really sweet to listen to how they describe my religion, i could really listen to ted ed and fall asleep to the relaxing voices lol

What people don’t realize is that in Hinduism, every term actually has a deeper and more significant meaning which is compared to ourselves, whether mind or body. So, we need gurus to explain those meanings to us for a better insight.Also, as an Indian, I am amazed that we managed to keep our language alive. Tamil is one of the oldest languages in the world and until now, many people still speak it. For the younger generation out there, pls don’t forget Tamil. We should be proud to speak it.

Not a follower of any particular religion, but have a deep appreciation for learning about all. Wonderful unbiased video.

This was actually a really good breakdown. As a person of color we often forget the involvement of Africa and also the long-lasting impact it still has today.

Hey even if you are watching this for an assignment, do think about the deeper meaning of it all and don’t pass it off as annoying homework. You’ll be surprised of how much you’ll actually learn

I’m Mexican American on my mother’s side. She told me that my grandfather when he came to the US in 1908 saw African American ex-slaves with parts of their ears cut off. This is the first time I have ever heard those experiences confirmed.

This was well written and explained. I especially appreciate the graphics and visual aspect of it. Kids need visual pics to get a sense of the scale, the atrocities and the full pic of what slavery looked like. We never hear about the effects slavery had on Africa and worldwide which is disappointing and it needs to be talked about. I especially wasn’t aware of WHY Tribes and African Kings cooperated with Europeans in enslaving Africans, makes sense the “reasoning” yet still and will always be appalling!

This was a very good education video thanks for making it and it has inspired me and others to know what would have happened if the company didn’t exist.

And also what should have been in the video, was the work of Carl Linnaeus. His work about the classification of plants, animals (and of course people) also helped to manifest a lot of the racial prejudice from the late 18th century on wards. I personally don’t think that this was his intention, but those who adopted the skin colour code during the Spanish Inquisition in 1492 (to separate The Moors from the native Spaniards) should have all been in this video.

I usually find myself frowning at the half truth story that is often told. However, this is on point.

The ideology that slaves were destined to be slaves was not created by the Christians. That ideology had been around since before Plato and had never really been question until sometime in/near the modern eras. If you read ancient texts on the subject, such as the Roman philosopher Seneca, it was never a question of “is slavery moral,” but rather, “what is the moral way to treat slaves.” Most cultures throughout the world have used slavery at one point or another. Thus it is important to reemphasize to those of you who are students, that Africa is not the only country to have had its people enslaved. Remember the story of Sparticus of Rome? Sparticus was a Greek who was captured during a battle with Rome. In the ancient days, war captives became slaves. In fact, for Rome, Greek slaves were the prized slaves for their intelligence. Just something to keep in mind. Too many western kids today believe that only Africans were used as slaves, and that is simply not true.

it’s alarming how humans can get accustomed to such cruelty and let it go on for 600 – 700 years.

I like how the narrator explains that slavery is at odds with Christian ideals, and how proponents and practitioners of slavery had to go through some logical calisthenics to justify their crimes.

Thank You for making this subject Accurate once again. The sanitized versions that they have inserted into text books in the last 40 years have caused more problems than the truth ever had.You can credit the dis- information to the Democrats of the late 70’s and early 80’s.They thought we couldn’t handle the truth, so they decided to warp history. As expected, this has not worked out, leaving people younger than myself very confused, and angry over intentionally inserted , or outright omissions of the truth. Thanks Guys.
